10 Cents Provides a Meal

For 10 cents, you can feed a child facing famine and physcially demonstrate the love of Christ among people who are the most unreached! We have an incredible, almost unbelievable, opportunity to feed multitudes of children in some of the most grave situations our staff has seen since Global Aid Network was started.

You have likely heard about or seen reports regarding Darfur in the past couple of years.  This region of Sudan has seen massive loss of life due to warfare, ethnic cleansing, and genocide.  Over the last 20 years in Sudan, more than 2 million have died, and over 4 million have been driven from their homes

Then, to make a bad situation worse, the rebels have systematically destroyed many of the towns and villages.  This has driven an estimated 1.8 million people into refugee camps.  Multitudes of people now live in these refugee camps in the middle of the desert.  They fled their homes with just the clothes on their backs and have nothing.

Sadly, almost 1/4 of the children under five are dying due to malnutrition and water-borne diseases.

So as you can see, this food we want to send them could absolutely make a difference between life and death there.

In Zimbabwe, people are also facing famine, but from a different type of enemy.  Hyper-inflation reported at more than 230,000,000% this year was caused by an "economic meltdown" in the country.  Imagine, food costing 20 times more that it did just a year ago.  And that is on top of prior years' inflation of 200% and more.  Zimbabwe has gone from being the "breadbasket" of Africa, and a food exporter, to a huge food importer in just a matter of years.  Currently the shelves are empty in food stores, but even if food was available, most people cannot afford to buy enough food for their families.  So, famine and malnutrition--especially among the children--is now widespread

However, in the midst of these desperate situations, God has provided Global Aid Network with an almost unbelievable opportunity to literally provide millions of highly nutritious meals to children and parents.  At the same time, we will partner with Christian brothers and sisters to not only provide lifesaving meals, but also provide the lifesaving gospel!

For just a few pennies you can literally make the difference between whether a person is going to be fed a balanced, nutritious, and vitamin-packed meal or not fed at all.  A few pennies can decide whether a child is going to be hungry or not hungry--and whether or not they can ward off malnutrition.

However, those few pennies per person will do more than meet that crying physical need.  Those few cents will also help result in some of the most unreached people in the world hearing about God's love and salvation.  This is because, as always with Global Aid Network, it's not enough that we would provide the food, we also seek to share the life-transforming message of hope that only the gospel Christ can bring.  In many places providing food and other aid helps to open the way into restricted places so that the good news can be shared.  When our local partners distribute food aid to those facing famine, it gives them an opening to share Christ and to carry out ongoing ministry often to people and in places that might not otherwise be reached if we could not address the tangible humanitarian needs.

We are able to provide this highly nutritious food for only 10 cents per meal because of a partnership with a like-minded Christian ministry.  With the input of scientists from major food companies, including Cargill and General Mills, our partners developed a nutritional meal consisting of: rice, soy nuggets, dehydrated vegetables, vitamins, minerals, and a vegetarian chicken flavoring to give growing children the critical nutritional elements they need. The balanced food blend packages come in small pouches.  Each pouch provides six highly nutritious meals that are easy to prepare by simply putting the mixture in boiling water.

Global Aid Network ships the pouches overseas, transports them to critical areas of need, and properly distributes them to children and adults who are facing malnutrition and famine.

The spiritual doors that are being opened to unreached areas are immense.  For example, in a Zimbabwe village of 10,000, food distribution led to the opportunity to show a film about Jesus.  In that village 3,000 came out to watch the film and nearly 2,000 indicated a decision for Christ!  In other countries, it opens doors in previously closed areas and builds credibility.  The food not only meets physical needs, but helps provide the opportunities to talk one-on-one to people about Jesus Christ.

Your gift of $50 could help feed 500 children who are facing famine.  And your gift of $100,
$250 or $500 could help feed 1,000, 2,500 or even 5,000 children with a nutritious and scientifically-balanced meal that can help a weak and malnourished child to thrive once again.  Plus, through your gifts for the food, thousands may hear the gospel as a result of the outreach that can take place as food is distributed.

Because of this amazing opportunity, and the extreme need to help children who are facing famine in locations around the world, would you prayerfully consider giving as generously as possible?  Ten children can be fed by every $1 given by friends like you.  In today's difficult economy this is one truly effective investment.
